As the annually-held Perth world soccer cup was recently ended in the Australian city of Perth which hosts the cup, a Somali football expert who coached the Somali community team in Australia Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed Was awarded as the best coach during the competition.
After evaluation the organizing committee of the Perth world soccer cup recognized Somalia`s Abdul Haq as the best coach in the 2009 expat football competition and celebrations for the precious award are taking place in Mogadishu and other cities in Somalia.
"I am very grateful to my players who performed well and assisted me to be the best coach, because I know that this is not a victory I scored alone" the Somali coach told reporters in Mogadishu during a via phone press conference on Thursday.
"My particular thanks are also due to the 2009 Perth world soccer cup organizers who awarded me as the best coach" the delightful Somali coach told Mogadishu-based football writers Thursday.
"Although we didn`t bring the senior trophy for Somalia and we were eliminated in the semi final, then I am happy with how my senior boys performed and that our U 18 squad took the junior cup after defeating South Africa by a goal to nil in the final game" Coach Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed said during his press conference Thursday.
"Coach Abdul Haq made a big change and we can describe him as the first ever Somali expatriate coach who acquired such precious award for the name of Somalia" Somali sports press association President Mr. Abdi Aziz M Godah Barre said.
The Australian City of Perth has hosted this very interesting soccer competition for foreign communities in Australia since 1977 and it is meant to create friendship among expatriates living in Australia, according to the Somali Coach Abdul Haq.
