Brilliant Uganda stormed the second half with an awesome attacking show to power themselves to victory Sunday evening in this unforgettable thriller at Nyayo National Stadium and successfully defended the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) Cup.
Zanzibar on the other hand ran away with the bronze after Abdi Sadala scored the all important goal in the 70th minute.
Bob Wiliamson and his men appeared down and out, especially after the Rwandans threatened in the first minutes, but the sum collection of their superior athletic powers helped them bounce back and be crowned champions with a 2-0 final result.
"We have done it!" was Wiliamson`s remark at fulltime. "It had been a long tournament, but we thank God that we`ve defended the title."
Dan Wagaluka led from the front, powerfully shooting at point-blank range to give the Cranes the victory their storming second half show deserved.
How different it had all looked before the break. The Ugandans were rattled as the Rwandans kept on piecing up shot passes and Yusuf Ndayishime was always dangerous on the flanks, before the champions came back charging in style to turn the game on its head and get their gold prize, for the 11th time.
The champions got the breakthrough in the 42nd minute when Godfrey Massa outran Kalisa Mow down the right flank and pumped a ball forward, which Wagaluka controlled before shooting at a crowded Rwandan six-metre box.
The ball rebounded off Uwirimana, before Wagaluka fired a low and vicious shot into the corner which even Ndayishimiye, at his best, could not save.
Substitute Emma Okwi killed off the game for the champions in the 73rnd with virtually his first touch of the ball.
The 10-time Cecafa champions started the game with composure and sprayed the ball around, before the Amavubi settled down and kept on charging.
